Topic: FTP login only

With FTP accounts on FreeBSD I would set the shell to /usr/bin/false to disallow logging in remotely or on the computer itself. However, this still allowed the users to login via FTP. (It may have been setting the shell to /bin/nologin, but I forgot.) Anyway, on OS X, this doesn't seem to work because it doesn't let the user login via FTP.

Does anyone know how to I can set this up?

$ gcc -Wall Kuno.c -o Kuno
Kuno.c: In function 'main':
Kuno.c:5: warning: unused variable 'Life'

Re: FTP login only

What FTP server are you using ?

ProFTPd (for instance) has an option to let people in with an invalid shell.
"RequireValidShell off " and it works with nologin or false.

<wintellect> NetBSD users are smart enough to accept that there's no 3D support tongue

Re: FTP login only

I figured it out, I forgot to add /sbin/false to /etc/shells tongue

$ gcc -Wall Kuno.c -o Kuno
Kuno.c: In function 'main':
Kuno.c:5: warning: unused variable 'Life'
