Topic: Crossover games available for FreeBSD

Of interest to some, I think.

See the first announcement there.  It's also being mentioned on freebsd-emulation@
(Basically, a repeat of the announcement on pcbsd.org

Doesn't wine work just as well or even better?

Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

Re: Crossover games available for FreeBSD

With Linux, at least the last time that I tried both, CO Office made it much simpler.  If I'm not mistaken, it's the same people with the difference being that Crossover office simplifies the installation and setup.

Re: Crossover games available for FreeBSD

CrossOver also has bug fixes that have not migrated to Wine.  Also, there is quite some attention given to getting various applications to work properly, and given the many knobs there are to turn this not a trivial benefit.  While Wine works a *lot* better on BSD now, there still is an incredible amount of diddling you have to do to get most things to work as you want.  That's my experience, at least.

One thing of note in the announcement: this one is geared to games (figures); a subsequent one is geared more to Office applications.

Re: Crossover games available for FreeBSD

Yes nice try, but the desktop user base is less to nothing compared to Linux.
