Re: gnome openbsd

can you access any other FTP servers or websites or anything that requires name resolution? for example, can you ping google.com ?

if yes, what is the exact command you ran? was it pkg_add ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/4.3/p … 20.3p0.tgz ? you should read this to set up your PKG_PATH correctly.

if no, you need to specify DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf. what does cat /etc/resolv.conf output?

Re: gnome openbsd

hello

the ping google.com

ping: unknown host: google.com

the command  cat /etc/resolv.conf

no such file or directory

This points out that a DNS server has not been configured at all.  What happens when you ping by IP address (one of Google's servers can be found at 64.233.187.99)?

To connect a host to the Internet, one needs to configure the IP address, subnet mask, & primary DNS server manually, or get all values through DHCP.  How are you connecting to the Internet?
