Topic: boss doesnt want bsd :|

So my boss found out that I put NetBSD on the wiki server, so he told me to wipe it and put freebsd or linux. Than he says we should put linux since we are already using it for one of our servers that is for onlince courses here at the college. But I told him it sucks to learn linux to a point where you try something on anohter distro it wont work, so I kept nagging him and he also brought up that we have tapeware for backup which supports win,sol and linux, but not sure about bsd, now I shall check if it works OK with freebsd and  maybe I get to stick with freebsd and not how to use his choice of wonderful.... Fedora.

For example, Linux had at least two completely independent USB stacks before Linus Torvalds rejected them both and wrote a third one from scratch, after he found both existent Linux  stacks unsatisfactory.  (When pressed for an explanation as to why he selected the API he did, Torvalds stated: "because I wanted to."

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

oh this is easy to fix ... just kill him!

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

ahhhh ... i've run into this problem too, scuzzo

I needed to make a radius/mail server and my boss wanted me to use debian coz he knew it better. f*cked if i was going to use linux. Told him i know FreeBSD a lot better than debian and it's much more secure by default.

Anyways ... FBSD server is up and running now and i've been told i have to do 100% of the administration ( i was going to do this anyway).

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

yea I was planning to admin the box anyways and he knew that so I duno why hes making such a big deal other than that the backup software may not work with but damn its just the wiki

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

ahaha hope he will finally change his mind smile

here at work I advocate bsd everyday and I have 4 machines (including my workstation) running bsd.

<wintellect> NetBSD users are smart enough to accept that there's no 3D support tongue

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

What's wrong with FreeBSD ?

Guru for a day, newbie for a lifetime

Re: boss doesnt want bsd :|

nothing is wrong with freebsd, thats what im pushing to get on there, first it was netbsd, then he said no , either linux or freebsd, now its only linux, but if this tapeware will work on freebsd than freebsd it is!
