Post the april 1st jokes here...

First one I found...

Hello,

I'm pleased to announce you the first public release of emerald at

   http://rubyurl.com/b5JtE

Emerald is an object oriented language with constraints and logic
features, inspired from prolog, Oz, CSP and Hyper/J.

I started this as an hack since ruby is becoming less fun.
It will not be as good as ruby, but please try it out while we wait for
Rite.

Re: April 1st

Another one....

there are persistent rumors supported by check-ins on cvs.openbsd.org
in private -GPL branch that openbsd 3.8 will be released under GPL.

analysts believe that theo accepting the fsf award for his contributions
to GPL is just a part of the plot.

rumor says theo have said:
"definitely we can't build world without gcc. what the fuck is the 'G' in
gcc?
either we build a cc without 'G' so we can build world our way or we become
GPL."

GeNToo - Gentoo on the Microsoft NT kernel
Posted on 1 April 2005 by Patrick Lauer

We are happy to announce the first experimental release of Gentoo for the NT kernel! Away from mainstream Gentoo a group of developers has managed to push the flexibility of our distribution to new heights and getting it to run natively on the well-known NT kernel!

Further information, a howto, some screenshots and installscripts can be found at the project's website.

Note: GeNToo is not officially supported yet, please address enquiries directly to the developers listed on its project pages.

It actually got my for a moment until I read in the projects' FAQ :

You must be kidding!

No, we're quite serious. Finally you can get the best of both worlds! The Win32 subsystem is such a mess, the Linux kernel is a mess. Once you have the GNU tools on the NT kernel, you get a very solid OS that even rivals Solaris 10 in many respects.
